Jeff Smith is a lifelong agricultural professional with more than five decades of experience serving farmers and the agricultural community. He has been actively involved in farming since 1974 and began his career working with the Farm Service Agency (FSA), followed by serving as a crop adjuster from 1983 to 1987. These early roles provided a strong foundation in agricultural programs, risk assessment, and crop insurance.

In 1987, Jeff became a licensed insurance agent specializing in crop insurance and risk management. He owned and operated his own crop insurance agency from 1989 to 2005, earning recognition as the top insurance agency in 2002 and being named Indiana Business of the Year in 2001. Jeff later worked with Wells Fargo Insurance from 2005 to 2010 and played a key role in developing innovative risk management and grain marketing products. Throughout his career, he has received numerous industry awards and remains dedicated to helping farmers manage risk and achieve long-term success.
